The AMP Energy 500 is the 34th race
of the 2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup Season and the sixth
race in the 2010 Chase for the Cup. Watch
complete TV coverage on ABC beginning at 1PM
ET on Sunday October 31, 2010.
While the track has seen changes made
to the cars that circle its high-banks, the surface
that they race on and the grandstands that thousands
of fans fill twice a year, one constant remains;
Talladega Superspeedway is
authentic NASCAR racing at its finest. This tri-oval course is 2.66 miles
in circumference. Talladega Super speedway's
grandstand tri-oval is banked 16.5 degrees and the
north and south turns are banked 33 degrees. The
track is the largest oval track in the Sprint Cup
Series.
Jamie McMurray won the AMP Energy
500 in 2009. Who will barrel down Talladega on their
way to victory this year?

In
2009, Jamie McMurray took the victory in
Sunday's NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Amp
Energy 500 at Talladega Superspeedway,
as he made a late pass to win the
checker flag, snapping an 86-race
winless streak dating to July 2007 at
Daytona by hanging on when the racing
heated up. Entering this weekend’s race,
McMurray was sitting 22nd in the Sprint
Cup driver point standings
McMurray’s best Cup series finish at
Talladega is fifth which he has
accomplished three times and in his 14
career Cup series starts at Talladega,
McMurray averages a 19.5 starting
position and a 20.5 finishing position. |

In 2008, Tony Stewart
cruised to his second NASCAR
championship in four years at the Ford
400, capping an uncharacteristically
calm season for the former bad boy. He
won races, kept his temper in check and
avoided every major incident long enough
to cement himself as one of the greatest
drivers of his time.
Needing only to run a clean race at the
Ford 400, he hovered just outside the
top 10 and away from any potential
danger. |
 |
He ended up 15th, winning the title
by 35 points over Greg Biffle, and winning his
second Ford 400 in a row. Stewart became just the
14th driver in NASCAR history with more than one
championship and joined four-time winner Jeff Gordon
as the only active full-time drivers with multiple
titles.
